Custom Gates in Tecumseh

Custom Gates for Tecumseh homes

Tecumseh stretches from lakeside neighbourhoods on Lake St. Clair to the Oldcastle industrial area and farmland in the former Sandwich South township. On rural Tecumseh properties, gates are about equipment: tractors, trailers and boats. We build wide farm and driveway gates on large posts with deeper footings, so a long gate doesn't drop at the latch end after a few seasons.

What's included

Walk gates, double driveway gates and rolling gates in wood, vinyl, aluminum and steel, framed so they swing true and latch every time. Depending on your property, the work can include:

• Walk gates
• Double driveway gates
• Rolling and cantilever gates
• Frames that don't sag
• Heavy-duty hardware
• Gate posts set deeper
• Measure the opening.
• Written quote.
• Build and hang.
• Adjust.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main custom gates page.

Local conditions in Tecumseh

Lakeside fences in Tecumseh deal with wind damage and damp air, while rural fences see frost heave, equipment damage and overgrown fence rows. Repairs, gate rebuilds and staining are planned around each property's exposure.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for custom gates in Tecumseh, get clear answers to these before signing:

• How will the gate frame be braced against sagging?
• What size hinges and posts will carry the weight?
• Which way should the gate swing on my slope?
• Can the latch take a lock?

By-laws, permits and locates

Tecumseh asks homeowners to get a fence permit, make sure the fence is on their own property and book a final inspection. Fences can be up to 1.9 metres in rear and side yards and 1.22 metres in front yards. Pool fences must be at least four feet high, not climbable and fitted with spring-loaded, self-latching gates on the pool side. Rules change, so we confirm current requirements with the Town and request utility locates before digging.
