Gates, Repair & Care

Fence Repair

Leaning post, missing pickets, a gate that won't latch or a section the wind took down. We fix what's broken and tell you honestly if it's time to replace.

A fence rarely fails all at once. One post rots at the ground line or heaves in the frost, the section beside it starts to lean, and then a windstorm finishes the job. Catching it early usually means a repair instead of a new fence. Stakeline Fence Co. repairs wood, vinyl, chain link and ornamental fences, and we'll tell you straight when a fence has reached the point where repair money is wasted.

What's included

  • Post replacement — broken, rotted or heaved posts pulled and reset in fresh concrete, often without removing the whole section.
  • Leaning sections — straightened and re-secured, with the cause fixed so they don't lean again.
  • Pickets, boards and panels — replaced and matched as closely as the material allows.
  • Gate repair — re-hung, re-braced or fitted with new hinges and latches so they swing and latch properly.
  • Storm and impact damage — sections knocked down by wind, falling branches or vehicles rebuilt.
  • Chain link repair — bent top rail, loose fabric and broken ties restored to tension.

How the job runs

  1. Inspection. We look at the damage and check the posts on either side, which are often the real problem.
  2. Written price. Repair or replace options, priced before any work starts.
  3. Repair. Posts reset, sections rebuilt and hardware replaced.
  4. Check. Line, gates and latches checked before we leave.

Repair or replace?

If most posts are solid, repair almost always makes sense. If posts are failing along the whole line or the fence is near the end of its life, a new wood fence or vinyl fence may cost less over time. Wood that is sound but grey can be revived with staining. Storm damage? Photos help with insurance claims, so take them before cleaning up.

What affects the cost of fence repair

Fence repair prices depend on what's broken and how much has to come apart to fix it. Replacing pickets or a panel is a modest job. Replacing posts costs more, especially when old concrete has to be broken out. Gate rebuilds, storm damage to several sections and repairs on fences with hard-to-match materials take more time and parts. We price repairs in writing before starting.

Fence Repair questions

Can you replace one fence post?

Yes. Replacing a single broken or heaved post is one of the most common repairs, and the panels on either side can usually be reattached.

Can you match my old fence?

We match style and size as closely as possible. New wood will look brighter until it weathers or is stained, and some discontinued vinyl styles can't be matched exactly.

Is fence damage covered by insurance?

Sometimes, for sudden events like storms or falling trees. Check with your insurer. We provide a written repair price you can submit.

How quickly can you fix storm damage?

We prioritize fences that are down after a storm, especially where pets, pools or security are involved. If a full repair needs materials, we can often secure the opening temporarily first and come back to finish the job properly.
