Fence Repair in Windsor

Fence Repair for Windsor homes

Windsor's mix of century homes, post-war bungalows and newer subdivisions means fences that run along alleys, narrow side yards and corner lots. Windsor's mature trees are beautiful until a limb comes down on the fence, and many older fences in the city have posts that have been rotting quietly at the ground line for years. Storm calls after summer thunderstorms are common here, and we start by checking the posts on either side of the damage.

What's included

Repairs for leaning posts, broken pickets, storm damage and sagging gates, so a fence with good bones doesn't have to be replaced. Depending on your property, the work can include:

• Post replacement
• Leaning sections
• Pickets, boards and panels
• Gate repair
• Storm and impact damage
• Chain link repair
• Inspection.
• Written price.
• Repair.
• Check.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main fence repair page.

Local conditions in Windsor

Windsor's summer thunderstorms bring down branches and fence sections every year, and many older fences have posts rotting at the ground line. Alley gates take daily use, and long, sunny summers turn unstained wood grey quickly.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for fence repair in Windsor, get clear answers to these before signing:

• Is the problem the post, the panel or the gate?
• Do the posts on either side need work too?
• Is repair or replacement the better value?
• How closely can you match my existing fence?

By-laws, permits and locates

Windsor's fence by-law allows fences up to 2.2 metres in side and rear yards, 1.2 metres in front yards, and up to 2.5 metres along an alley or public walkway, with a 0.9 metre limit inside the sight triangle at corner lots (open chain link or metal pickets can be taller there). Pool enclosures fall under a separate by-law and need a permit. Rules change, so we confirm current requirements for your address during planning, and utility locates are always requested before digging.
